So, we had reservations for Monica’s, the same day Italy won the World Cup - wow! What a place to be! The streets were filled with people and we danced right along with them, singing “Forza Italia!”

Back to the food - we jolted off Hanover st to eat at Monicas - a recommendation from a co-worker who lives in the North End. The appetizers were the highlight. We had fresh figs w/ proscioutto, and then eggplant with a creme sauce with capers and lemon and anchovies - YUMMY! My Zuppa di Pesce was too salty - but if you ignored the sauce, my lobster and scallops and shrimp were perfetto! The Carbonara with pancetta that Scott had - was also delicious! I have to say, this place is great, nice attention by the Italian waiter (not in a Saturday Night Live skit kinda way - just nice enough!), and we liked the decor and open windows to the street.
